Hey, that's a > real pity - I was really looking forward to evaluating Informix's ODBC router > performance. I am busy evaluating the suitability of ODBC as a router platform > for serious commercial client/server work. > > ANY info you have regarding Informix and ODBC would be much appreciated. > We have developed a pseudo ODBC API using the ESQL/C primitive functions implementing basic api functions such as the following: SQLAllocConnect(), SQLAllocEnv(), SQLAllocStmt(), SQLFreeEnv(), SQLFreeConnect(), SQLFreeStmt(), SQLPrepare(), SQLGetCursorName(), SQLSetConnectOption(), SQLSetStmtOption(), SQLTransact(), SQLConnect(), SQLDisconnect(), SQLBindParameter(), SQLBindCol(), SQLTables(), SQLFetch(), SQLExtendedFetch(), SQLExecute() SQLExecDirect(), SQLError(), SQLGetInfo(), This runs on AIX and SCO unix for Online 5. We did this because we wanted our applications to use the ODBC API so we can migrate to it once ODBC drivers grow up. Available ODBC drivers are (at least the ones we tested) limited in terms of the number of open hstmts. Our applications can not afford to be limited here. Other reasons are that no ODBC drivers existed for clients on UNIX platforms at the time we needed them. We also do not want to pay extra royalties. I am now doing the same for Oracle using the Oracle CLI. At least when something goes wrong I can fix it. Theo Kramer theo@rascal.co.za
