I have successfully developped an interface for ISQL/ESQL and used a similar program to interface to 4GL. The key in 4GL is to build the C-program into the runtime Engine. For this you need a development package and a lot of patience. I wrote a somewhat simple C-program that gets the Credit card info from the 4GL screen passed through a 4GL CALL. Then the C-program takes over and makes a text file that the ICVERIFY program reads and processes. While the file is being processed my C program counts the seconds on the user screen and returns the authorization code to the end user when it is received from the processor.
