native connection to 2nd network card

We currently have our sqlhosts file setup to allow connection for one port on ip address aaa.aa.aa.aaaa through odbc or native connection. I want to add another network card on the same server to the sqlhosts file so that we can connect to that ip address of bbb.bb.bb.bbbb as well, with the same port for the odbc and native connection. (I want a certain program to connect through the second ip address.) What do I need to change or modify? Is this possible? So far I have tried adding a line to the db servers's sqlhosts with the appropriate data, but it doesn't seem to be working. We also changed the client servers sqlhosts, and then restarted Apache after the change. We are connecting to the db through informix sdk from Linux running php. C Geier St. Paul, MN
