Screen interaction slow after AIX upgrade

A few weeks ago we upgraded our RS6000 model 580 from AIX version 3.2.5 to AIX version 4.2. We have an informix application written in I-4GL with database Online Version 5.05.UC2. We work on PC's connected via telnet FTP PC/TCP. Since that moment all interaction with the screens are very slow. After each OPEN WINDOW, DISPLAY, OPTIONS, INPUT, ..... command the system halts for about a second before it continues. Could anyone give me a hint what is wrong with our system ?
