A user couldn't install IDS 11.5 on Ubuntu 8.04: the installer's prerequisite check kept demanding libc.so.6 and libm.so.6 even though ldconfig -p showed them present. Suggestions were to run the installer with the -disable-checks argument, and to make sure the directory holding the libraries (typically /usr/lib) is in an exported LD_LIBRARY_PATH. The poster reported back that using -disable-checks let the installation complete successfully.

Hi all,
I'm trying to install IDS 11.5 on a Ubuntu 8.04 but I always experience the
same problem : the prerequired check system stops the installation and asks me
for the librairies libc.so.6 and libm.so.6.
I have already installed them, if I do a ldconfig -p, they are here ...
I have seen and followed the machine notes and now I don't know what to do.
So if someone has an idea, I'm ready to try ...
Thx
Does it make any difference if you install with the -disable-checks argument
to the installer?
Guy

Thx,
I can try but it's really the solution ?
If the system don't find the librairies, how can I be sure that it works
correctly ?

find those two files and make sure that the directory containing them
(usually /usr/lib) is in the LD_LIBRARY_PATH environment variable and it is
exported.

Hi,
So I just want to inform you that I have followed the Guy's solution and so
used the -disable-checks option.
The installation has finished successfull.
Thx for your help.
