Freeing an sqlda structure crashes Windows Vista

Client: * Windows Vista * Informix CSDK 3.00.TC3 Server: * Informix 11.10.UC1 I'm using free() to free memory allocated by DESCRIBE ... INTO, and not SqlFreeMem. It wasn't a problem on Windows XP. I'm not using the multi-threaded library (well, I mean, I'm not using the -thread flag, is there a difference?[1]). But on Windows Vista, my ESQL/C program is crashing in free(). Changing free() with SqlFreeMem() solves the problem. According to the manual [2] I should not be experiencing crashes: "If your application is running on a Windows operating system and using the multi-threaded library, then you must use SqlFreeMem() when freeing memory that was allocated by the ESQL/C libraries. If you instead use free() you will not get an error but the memory will not be freed" What am I missing?, anybody care to explain, please? Thanks in advance.
