In article <3p13dv$kkf@dingo.cc.uq.oz.au>, gordonh@acslink.net.au says... >Recently I saw an instance where a company upgraded to online 5.x and had 4gl >code compiled under a 4.0 tool and the application failed totally. > >My suggestion would be... If you go to 5.x upgrade the 4GL to 4.1x > >Gordon Hooker > Gordon, Given the myriad of machines and ports of INFORMIX products I don't think this simplistic of a formula is a good recommendation. I have seen 4.12 4GL problems that make me want to go back a rev on some machines, and others the problem never appeared. Don't lock-step the engine with the 4GL. 4.00 4GL was a bad version as far as what I've seen, but it was a nice improvement over 2.10... Unless you get some inside information first, I would ask which combinations are the best for a given machine.
