2 INFORMIXDIRs located under same home directory?

Hi everyone. I know this is not an ideal design but if I have to install a new IDS 11 FC2 INFORMXDIR underneath an existing IDS 9 FC7 INFORMIXDIR location....can anyone see issues with this ASSUMING that users fully qualify their INFORMIXDIR and INFORMIXDIR/bin variables correctly? IE: /opt/informix/Informix_9 holds the IDS 9 FC7 binaries then /opt/informix/Informix_11 holds the IDS 11 FC2 binaries As long as everyone properly sets their INFORMIXDIR and PATH variables.... does anyone see why this setup would not work? Again..I know this is not an ideal situation. Thanks, Will

No problems. I do it all the time and Jonathan has had many many releases running concurrently on his workstation for many years. Art Art S. It's what I do all the time...more or less...my setup is more complex, but I have /usr/informix/11.50.FC3 and /usr/informix/11.10.FC1 and /usr/informix/9.40.FC7 and ... It works fine as long as you keep your environment set correctly. (On my machine, /usr/informix is a symlink to somewhere with lots of storage space...and things go downhill from there.) -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2008.0513 -- http://dbi.perl.org/ "Blessed are we who can laugh at ourselves, for we shall never cease to be amused."
