Select hangs users (kernel resource limit?)
Posted in 1993
I have found that when I do a select from a 63 meg table, if I join to
another table, the other table gets locked up.
Once the select completes, the other query clears. This occurs in 4gl
programs, and in dbaccess too.
If I control-c the other query, I get a message:
Can not open (tablename): interrupted system call
I believe that one of my kernel parameters is being exhausted, but I get
no kernel warning messages. This is on a Sequent 486-MP running
Dynix/ptx 1.4.
Could someone suggest what kernel resources could be exhausted by a
large joined select?
