A couple weeks ago, I posted asking for suggestions on using arrowkeys in Informix without using forms, input arrays, or the input statement. Since then, I've had a flood of suggestions, and on my off-time, have worked to find a solution. The end result to my quest was simply this: forget arrow keys. Use 'u' to go up, and 'd' to go down instead. Just using a PROMPT "..." FOR CHAR move and then checking to see if move is either 'u' or 'd' is slick and easy enough for me. There was one suggestion that should be mentioned here though: --- From apatanka@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu Wed Feb 9 07:21:42 1994 From: Atul Patankar <apatanka@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu> Re: Trapping Arrow Keys Hi, The "INFORMIX - 4GL Supplement" for 4.1 documents the fgl_keyval() and fgl_lastkey() functions that can be used to detect if an arrow key was hit. I think they should be sufficient to do the job for you. Hope this helps, Atul. apatanka@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu --- In any case, I hope this helps anyone else who is in a similar bind. john... jcfowler@david.wheaton.edu
