Re: BUFFERS: How high is too high?

I reasantly added more memory (going from 80 to 144 MB) and set my BUFFERS to high. The performance immediately whent totaly down the drain. I was hardly able to get in and out of onmonitor, much less doing anything else. In my book swapping is the worst there is and should be avoided at (almost) any cost. You should of course not only "suspect" swapping, but use whatever tools you have to find the real rate of swapping activity. There are of course many other things to tune as well. Just search for David Williams posts on this theme (you may use www.dejanews.com) and you will learn allmost every trick there is.
