Hello all, I am now using informix online workgroup server 7.12. The command center prompt me that 'Logical Log Full - backup is needed' and so i go to logical backup. But I found that I cannot backup the logical log. The 'Logical Log backup is in process....' just showing on the desktop and no respond. I am waiting for a long time. I can connect to the database but i cannot update it since the log is full. How can I solve this problem? james

If all of your logs are full then there is not even enough space to record the fact of the logical log backup. The ONLY option is to call Informix tech support and get a dial-in. They can truncate the last logfile so that there is room to record the backup but some data may be lost during engine restart fast recovery. One option you can try, if you are on a UNIX system (it is always a good idea to post your platform info) you can run onmonitor and change LTAPEDEV to /dev/null. This will automatically free all the logs that have not been backed up as long as there is not an open transaction contained in them. On NT without onmonitor you are in bigger trouble. Art S. Kagel
