We are using .netrc file to store passwd info for the Enterprise Replication. Now we are recommended NOT using .netrc( can not store the clear passwd in a file in the OS) by security. What can we do in our IDS 10? Thanks, Quman
If you are in UNIX enviroment, use the $HOME/.rhost o the file /etc/hosts.equiv. I recomend you the second. In those file, in the server side, you autorized the login/IP to connect whitout password. -----Mensaje original----- De: Quman [mailto:yquman@gmail.com] Enviado el: Miércoles, 21 de Junio de 2006 09:10 a.m. Para: ids@iiug.org Asunto: .netrc passwd info for ER [7016] We are using .netrc file to store passwd info for the Enterprise Replication. Hosts.equiv has the additional benefit of being able to specify users who have permission to connect (sample entry): Myotherserver.mydowmain informix This would allow only the user informix to connect from myotherserver without a password. If you're using Windoze, hosts.equiv lives in C:\\\\windows(or winnt)\\\\system32\\\\drivers\\\\etc --EEM > > -----Mensaje original----- > De: Quman [mailto:yquman@gmail.com] > Enviado el: Miércoles, 21 de Junio de 2006 09:10 a.m. > Para: ids@iiug.org > Asunto: .netrc passwd info for ER [7016] > > We are using .netrc file to store passwd info for the Enterprise > Replication. > Now we are recommended NOT using .netrc( can not store the clear passwd in > a file in the OS) by security. > > What can we do in our IDS 10? > > Thanks, > Quman > > ************************************************************************** > ** > *** > Forum Note: Use "Reply" to post a response in the discussion forum. > > > ************************************************************************** > ***** > Forum Note: Use "Reply" to post a response in the discussion forum.
