Performance Question on queries per second
Posted in 1998
Hi there, Does Informix have any rating how many queries per minute that its database can do? Specifically we have Informix 7.23 Dynamic Online Server running on a Sun UltraEnterprise 4000 with 1.2gig of memory and 4 250mhz Sparc processors. The vendor we have states the system is running fine. Though, this process, which runs about 30,000 queries to find matches and notify the users that there is a match. This process starts at 1am doesn't finish until about 12hrs later. The throughput averages between 17-23 queries per second. For the 1st 5 hours there are only a max of 30 users on the system after that there is an average of 170 '200 users on the system. By system, I mean, users accessing the database and running queries through a front end application. Do these numbers sound right? Too high or too low? We were lead to believe that this could be done in 5 hrs. Is this something that can be achived? Thanks in advanced, Pat Militzer Pmilitzer@ultracom.com
