This has got me wondering if the way the Instance was started had anything to do with this. Also the file /tmp/proc.debug did not exist, and the echo command did not work when redirected to /dev/null. Thank you for you input, I'll post a follow up after I have had a chance to test the start up theory. Michael J. Erickson
