It is, at least to an extent. It's also a successful competitor to Oracle (and Times 10), SQL Server et. al. Saw it at my time at Four J's and it's a mighty fine (and interesting - check the lock free architecture) offering. Fast as all hell, only available on Windows Linux and Solaris (at least last I looked). Technology came from ANTs in the US, and is now owned by Four Js. It has interesting patents behind it that grew out of MPP (hence the lock free bit), and compatibility with Oracle, MSSQL, Informix down to stored procedures & triggers. Value proposition is do more, faster with less tin, but I'm not convinced against a well run Informix db. Can be used as a 'helper' database. Also not convinced it will beat Informix in the run it & forget it space, but I'm sure someone from Four J's will chip in :-) Raytheon using it on US Navy's stealth destroyer is the big win for it, beat out Oracle. Farewell, Peter A smile is a gift that is free to the giver and precious to the recipient. But giving someone the finger is free too, and I find it more personal and sincere.

Peter, How are you! I remember having a look at ANTS a few year's back, it was interesting but not quite prefected. I'm sure it's come a long way since then. I think your right about run it and forget it space. Noel
