connection to informix via ODBC driver

HI, While trying to connect to informix database from VB6.0 client using ADO it takes about 2 minutes for Application to make a connection to database. But once it makes the connection after that it all works fine. Does anyone have any clue as to why this is happening? How can I debug the situation to see where is the wait time involved.
