onlog difficulties

I am having some difficulty in using onlog to find some user transactions,
perhpas some one can tell me where I am going wrong.
- Our logical logs are backed up to tape continuously.
- I have confirmed from nightly exports that data existed the night before the
update and was gone by the export the next night. (Update operation).
- I have confirmed the tape is the correct tape for that time period. I have
seen timestamps at the start of the tape and at the end. Other checks have
been performed on the data inside the log files to confirm it is for the
instance desired. (Partnums seen in output match valid tables in instance,
users listed are defined to databases in the instance).
- I have retrieved the partnum field from the systables database with a
"select partnum from systables where tabname = "the table"".
- I have confirmed that create date on the systable entry is before the event
so I know my partnum has not changed.
- I have tried "onlog -d /dev/rmt0 -t "partnum" and received no matches. Seems
to dump all tablespaces?
- I have tried "onlog -d /dev/rmt0 | grep "partnum converted to hex"" and
received no matches.
- I have tried dumping the entire tape to a file and greping for the partnum
in hex and integer formats.
- I have also tried to find records from other datbases/tables in the instance
that I'm sure were updated with no luck.
Any ideas on where I could be making a mistake?

Thanks
Perhaps the table is set to NOT LOG? That could be your answer.
Take care.

Are your databases logged (logging modes BUFFERED, UNBUFFERED, ANSI) or
UNLOGGED? If unlogged there will be nothing in the logical logs but
housekeeping entries.

Yes, all the databases are in unbuffered log status.
Tables can be exempted from this at the time of their creation. You need to
check out the table itself.
Take care.
