But the subject was occasion enough to tell about my experience with informix support. If this was a question, the answer is that there is one good man (Jonathan Leffler) who is able to tell where the bugs are, but nobody (in german) who's willing to get the fixes. In my opinion Informix support is rotten, especialry for old BSP customers (they tried to give good support for a bad product, and are bankrupt now) who are now betrayed and selled by Garmhausen und Partner. I could tell a story about a bug, isql is not able to handle german umlaute probately. They do a "stty istrip" on start of isql and sperform, so its posible to see these umlaute, but not to enter them. At begin of may we discovered the bug, but informix germany was not willing to say that there is realy a bug, at mid may i posted a question here and got an answer from johnl that the bug is realy there and the name of the fix. I forwarded these mail to the german guys but there where not able until now to get the fix ! So Informix support is realy rotten ! I would never sell informix again, and I will tell everybody to not waste 30000.-- DM (about 20.000 $) for a product where the support is only able to play a tape with "please hold the line" :-( By Michael PS : This was not the first bug informix was'nt able to fix, but it will be the last as far as I'm concerned. -- " ceterum censeo MSDOS delendam esse " sagt der Guru und krault seinen Bart kraehe@bakunin.north.de
