HELP!! oninit -i fails ... Help
Posted in 1998
Hi,
I am stumped... any help is really appreciated.
I have a situation where we are running Informix
OnLine Dynamic Server verison 7.23 on a Sun SPARC 1000.
For performance reasons we decided to change from
cooked files to raw devices.
Currently I am stumped at the following situation and cannot
seem to resolve the problem.
After performing an "oninit -i" with the original initialization
and shared memory parameters without any dbspace except root
dbspace and it's chunk, the error I get in onmonitor
is "WARNING: Network Down". I tail the log file & it mentions
that I am in On-Line mode and the sysmaster databases were
created successfully, however as soon as I try and do an
onspaces -c to create a dbspace it gives me a shared memoryerror, if I try it from onmonitor it gives me a network
error.
Another clue (most likely related) is every time I start
onmonitor the online.log file that I am tailing generates
a -951 error saying user informix is not known to the system.
However if I query the sysmaster database on the sysuser table
via dbaccess "informix" shows up as a row in the table.
(There are 2 rows in the sysusr table).
I am able to reach everything in my network and seem to be
up and about. However I cannot add any dbspaces....
I am able to create the stores7 database in root dbspace
and attach to it via dbaccess and run queries.
Another error I get in the online.log is the file limits
cannot be changed, must be a super user...
Any ideas??? Any info/help appreciated. Please feel free
to send an email directly or post on the newsgroup.
Thanks in advance.
