Re: Problem onnecting two online databases
Posted in 1996
I have tried all the combinations and found out how it works:
On machine A (the server, will accept any tcp connection coming into
services sqlexecx!!!):
config file:
DBSERVERNAME: A
DBSERVERALIAS: TCPA
NETTYPE: ipcshm.....
NETTYPE: tlitcp......
sqlhosts file:
A onipcshm A boogusservicename
TCPA ontlitcp A sqlexecx
/etc/services file:
sqlexecx 1526/tcp
(Make sure you can telnet to your client, machine B from machine A and
vice versa!!!!)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------
On machine B (the client going to machine A):
config file:
DBSERVERNAME: B
NETTYPE: ipcshm.....
(note: no need to define a tcp since nothing is coming into machine B,
just going out!)
sqlhosts file:
B onipcshm B boogusservicename
TCPA ontlitcp A sqlexecx(Yes, the second line should match the second line in the sqlhosts file
from machine A!!!!!!)
/etc/services file:
sqlexecx 1526/tcp
Good luck... and remember, I will accept gratuities in any form!!!
