DBA problems

I am able to connect to Online thru SQL or 4gl it runs fine. But whenever we try to run a 'MS-Query' the database crashes giving the message 'Connect failed'. The error no returned is 25587 which reads as follows - -25587 Network receive failed. A system call has failed. Do a DISCONNECT and then check on the status of the server. See your UNIX system administrator for assistance. What could be the probable cause ? The sqlhosts file is not changed so far. The online log , after starting the database shows that 'Dataskip is off' Any additional information is needed to investigate the case pl let me know.
