Re: Tampa Florida

Not a technical problem at all — this is a social/off-topic thread about the joint IIUG/IDUG conference in Tampa and the IM Tech event in The Hague. One poster laments he can't get funding or afford to attend and may miss the Rome presentation deadline; others joke about Tampa nightlife. Serge Rielau of IBM mentions he'll be presenting (on DB2 topics such as SQL procedures, UDFs and triggers) at both events and offers to meet up, prompting good-natured ribbing about DB2 versus Informix. No technical issue or resolution is recorded.

Unfortunately I don't have any contacts for you to help you out. I think your presentation will rock if you either med-up before hand or at least toke and do a couple of shots of some really good local drink. The audience will be eating out of your hand. Tampa has excellent smoke resources, too bad you will be missing it. Ybor City is close by, and just like a mini New Orleans filled with lots of drink-n-smoke that could help your presentation. It would have been really good, it's the IIUG's loss I say.
I will be presenting both in Tampa and The Hague. If anyone is interested in the "putting faces to names game" I'd sure love to share a drink or two. Cheers Serge PS: I promise I won't peddle DB2 -- Serge Rielau DB2 Solutions Development IBM Toronto Lab

Both conferences are cross products. Tampa is shared IDUG and IIUG and the Hague is IM Tech (IDS, IMS, DB2, II, ...). So I will be presenting on DB2 of course. In Tampa I fill in for a friend: *Developing SQL procedures and SQL UDFs *DB2 Application Development: Triggers / Stored Procedures / UDF's The Hague I'll commit crimes on my own: "SQL on Fire" (2 parts) Does presenting on DB2 disqualify me from having a beer with Ifmx DBA's ? The one and only time I peddled DB2 to an Informix crowd was at the WAIUG meeting a long time ago and it was upon request (Tough crowd) > I don't do beer . . . . but other than that small detail . . . .8-) Actually me neither. I was speaking figuratively. ;-) "Going for a Orange juice", just doesn't have the same ring to it. Cheers Serge -- Serge Rielau DB2 Solutions Development IBM Toronto Lab
It starts with a beer, then you get a DB2 CD (well, a bunch of them), you think "Beer - CD, I can use them as beer mat", then you are so drunk (after a few beers), you end up putting one in your CD player and 10 services later you have a DB2 on your laptop and you get addicted... That's the whole strategy, it is more popular than the one with Informix, it involves beer and Serge. C u in Tampa...
