Informix state the port should be 1527 but some tcp/ip packages have this configured to Oracle services. It dowsn't matter which number you use as long it is consistent. We use 1725 as we can't find anybody who 'claims' to have registered this number Check you have sqlexecd running, and the version is *indentical* to the engine. We edit the boot script to run sqlexecd by default. Informix does not appear to do this. For testing that the Inet is configured properly we use the ILOGIN program supplied with Inet to check we have connectivity. After that we use Viewpoint to make sure all the tables etc are accessible. Paul Watson MIS Manager compans@cix.compulink.uk.com Tel ++121 604 1199
