SUMMARY: Getting Database Name inside Informix

I recently asked if there was a way to get the name of the active datbase frm inside a 4gl program in an RDS environment. Barring that, was there a way to read it from a unix environment variable. I received several replies, all of them wishing there was a way to get it from inside Informix, but the offered me the fgl_getenv() fuction to read unix environmet variables. let env_var = fgl_getenv("ENV_VAR") works very nicely. One resourceful gentleman suggested that I create a single column table in each datbase with a lone entry of the database name, and select from it whenever I needed to know where I was. Overwhelmingly though, repliers wished there were an internal informix function to derive the information. Thanks to all who replied. My program now works as I hoped due to your assistance. ---dave---
