People, We are in the process of installing our first IDS 10 instances on 32 bit architecture with RHEL 3. We are currently discussing the sizing of each chunk whether to eliminate the 2Gb allocation and move to larger sizes. What are the experiences in moving to chunk sizes larger then 2Gb on 32 bit architecture, apart from easier management are there performance implications with larger sizes? Regards Kenneth
Last year we migrated to new servers. I consolidated the chunks. In the DW we have chunks in 50GB size. OLTP has 10 GB size chunks. The performance is pretty good. We have Sun SAN 6320. It mainly depends on your SAN system/server. The disk I/Os, RAID configuration, controllers, the amount of cache, cable through put between SAN and server(s).
