Assuming a vaguely recent version of I4GL, the ORD(' ') function
would return 32 for the space argument. It returns the ascii
value of the first letter of its argument string -- or the value
converted to an argument string.

There is an informix funcrion FGL_GETENV("a") will return 95 for example.
