Screens on SPARC 2000

Last week I was compiling 4GLs on a Sparc 2000 with Solaris 2.3. Once they compiled, the screens that the executables called appeared rather strangely on the screen, reminescent of a termcap problem. But I don't think it is a termcap problem because if I run the same programs , compiled on a Sun OS 4.2 platform and ftped to the Sparc 2000, I do not get the screen problems. Has anyone out there encountered this?
