Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.
Bjarne W. Jensen suggested select DBINFO('version','full') from systables where tabid = 1 to get the server version dynamically. Art S. Kagel replied it does not work in 5.x, 6.0x, 7.1x or 7.2x. John Carlson confirmed it works in 7.30.UC7 with sysmaster or a user database. Art clarified that it only works from 7.3x onward.

Hi,
If you have Informix Dynamic Server then use the following sql-statement
' select DBINFO('version', 'full') from systables where tabid = 1'
result from the sql is :
Informix Dynamic Server Version 7.30.UC5
Take a look in Informix Guide to SQL: Syntax for more about DBINFO.

Nope. Does not work in 5.xx, 6.0x, 7.1x, or 7.2x. Probably not in 8.xx
or 9.1x either though I cannot check that out!

Works in 7.30.UC7 using either sysmaster or user-defined database.

Right. My point was that it did not work BEFORE 7.3x.
