Re[2]: Informix Training

What we covered (in a nutshell) - keep in mind this was a Beta class
-- first time offered to non-informixers:
DBspace layout (hex dumps of the actual pages -- whats in them)
Tablespace layout (hex dumps)
index architecture (yet more hex dumps) -- lotsa oncheck usage here to
see what happens when a new row is added.
Fragmented tables (differences from above)
Blobspace details (more hex...)
Shared memory details - how its allocated, how you attach, how its
tracked...
Online communications - detailed look at how connections are made.
Logging details/recovery details -- did not have time to cover these.
but they are in the book..
To answer the question on onstat -- I can't remember even typing it
once. Lots of oncheck, but no onstat...
I would recommend the performance tuning class for the types of questions you
have.

I would be interested in more info about what you convered,
apart form hex dumps of disk structures did you cover anything about
how Online works internally. Onstat has a lot of undocumented
options especially on the networking side of things. And how DOES
PDQ priority > 1 REALLY affect number of scan threads allocated etc.
