As you suggested in the rest of your message (omitted for brevity), it is only true for those Informix products which are aware of DBCENTURY. The earliest product versions which understand DBCENTURY are: 4.20 I4GL, ISQL 5.10 OnLine, SE, ESQL/C 7.20 I4GL, ISQL, OnLine, SE, ESQL/C All older products always add 1900 to a 2-digit year - as documented in the manuals. Even in the year 2000 and beyond, they add 1900 to a 2-digit year. For further details, consult the Informix Y2K page - I assume there is one, but I couldn't find it via the 'front door' when I went to look just now.
