Graphic characters in dumb terminals are generated by switching to an alternate character set and then using familiar characters with new meanings. Most terminal emulators (including xterm) do not actualy understand what the characters they are putting out look like - they interpret escape sequences as they can from the termcap entry but this does not fully describe a terminal. Alternate character sets COULD be done in such emulators by using resources to specify alternate fonts and mappings from the character set switch commands to these fonts however I don't know of any that do this. On our system we have mterm which can do decansi/vt102 graphics. I don't know where it came from but it is public. If you can't find it try mailing mouse@larry.mcrcim.mcgill.edu whose name was at the bottom of the README Nick Hounsome > > please email - if there is sufficient interest i can post whatever > shows up.... > > thanks, > john > -- > -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= > John Maddox jmaddox@mistxt.oc.com 214-888-0476 > OpenConnect Systems
