cann't open logfile

Hello,
I installed Informix SE V720 and restaured a database created under
Informix SE V4.x from another machine. When I try to connect to the
database, I receive the following messages:
224: Cann't open transaction log file
120: ISAM error: cann't open log file
finderr suggests that I should use START DATABASE to create a log file.
My questions are
- what is the syntax of START DATABASE?
- where could I find documentation about this statement? It seems that
it is not a SQL statement.
- how do I execute the statement? with dbaccess? It seems to me that
dbaccess is the only command interpreter of Informix. Am I right? Are
there other ones?
Thanks in advance for answers
And many thanks to Jonathan Leffler for his excellent answer to my
previous questions about Informix SE install

This will be described under the "Help" ring menu in dbaccess - its unders
others in the "Query Language" help.
It is also described in the Informix Guide to SQL - Syntax at :

As far as I know the file structure has changed between SE4 and SE7 and
the files you copied over are incompatible. You will have to go back to
the SE4 instance and unload the tables and then recreate the database in
SE7 empty and reload it from flat files.
