Thanks Harry, That does sound like what is happening here. We are running one of the earlier versions of informix 4, and I am getting an error code 10099. I feel much better now that I've heard this is a bug rather than something I'm doing wrong. I expect that we are running the most current version of Informix available for the machine we are using so I'll just make due with a sed script. Thanks! Chris.
