Translating with DrWatson… this can take a few seconds the first time.
This is a genuine, complex translation. DrWatson protects commands, error codes, and log output while naturally translating the surrounding text. It’s translated once and saved.

Is there a way to pass and use a table name as a variable in a stored
procedure?
Specifically, I'm trying to pass a name of a table into a stored proc,
and
set the next extent size if certain conditions are met.
I'm trying the following:
create procedure adjust_next_ext(my_tab char(18)); ....
if ...some_conditions_met... then
alter table my_tab modify next size 100000; end if
...
which compiles OK, but at execution time causes an error:
206: The specified table (my_tab) is not in the database.
(BTW, I'm using IDS 7.31)
TIA,
Jerzy

Not in ordinary stored procedures - ie the ones from engines 5.XX to 7.XX
I hear people mumbling about UDR's in the 9.XX or 2000 engines...
