This is the wrong forum for this but when I did system administration and consulting I ALWAYS recommended between 2x and 3x memory for swap space. You need AT LEAST 1x memory since UNIX System V.4 copies every running program and its memory to swap at startup and loads it into memory from there. My local sysadmins were of the 1x-2x persuasion until I beat them over the head to increase swap to 3x and our memory and swap problems went away. They now run 3 swap disks each 2x memory so that one can fail. Ahh for the committment of the converted! Art S. Kagel
