RE: NT vs. UNIX for Informix database; can NT handle the job?

Hi John ! You were good until you mentioned NT and oracle( is a good engine ) but remember who promised the heaven to HP, DIGITAL AND IBM for about clustering and support for from the operative system to those BIG MACHINES. Ring.. Time OUT, Answer BILL GATES!!!, And he QUIT 2 weeks ago, Why ?, because he really does not want to spend time and effort, on things like cluster architecture and all that stuff, and they promise every time just to have USERS wait and not to buy products from others VENDORS, I mean are not SUN, HP, DIGITAL , IBM good companies with machines with UNIX systems, remember that unix is best suitable for databases. So buy oracle or INFORMIX that are the best databases (INFORMIX is better enginered, and new coded) and please do not mess with NT. We are seriously considering purchasing Informix On-Line Dynamic Server or their Parallel server. We will be building a Commodities Trading application and need to be able to scale rapidly through SMP's multiple CPUs and need to gain linear performance as we add CPUs. There's no question that UNIX is a proven platform and can get the job done well, but can anyone comment on their successes with any of the Oracle database products running on NT? It is my understanding that you get very little if any additional performance beyond 4 CPUs under NT. "gotchas" to look out for is we go with NT? Has anyone been able to cluster NT servers yet? MS' Wolfpack is not out yet, except in beta. Digital has a solution but will it work on non-Alpha servers. John
