Need to restore Level 0 backup

hello. It is advisale to have at least the same IDS version as the one you had. The OS type/version doens't *always* matter as long as it is close to what you had. IDS version does matter, since there are always small differences thatcan play havoc with what you are trying to do. You can build a Linux server, but you would need a Linux build IDS for that.For you sake I hope the level 0 you have was made using ontape. Hi I"ve not worked with Informix IDS for a while now so a little rusty. We have an Informix database which isnt' in use anymore other than archival purposes. The server died, and it's going to take a lot of time and money to get the server back. The server was HPUX 10.20 running IDS 7.30.UC3. I have a LEVEL 0 backup of the database, for that backup to restore would I need the same operating system and same Informix version? I'm hoping I can either . Build a LINUX server, install Informix, restore the Level 0 OR . Build a HPUX 11.11 server, install Informix, restore the level 0 Will any of my options work? Will I need to try to get a 7.30 Informix version for Linux or HPUX or can I install a newer version? If I need a 7.30 version any hints where to get one, is it downloadable? Thanks in advance Paul
