Java API and JDBC... Any news?

On November 11, 1996 Informix announced: "Informix is the only database vendor to offer a Java API that allows customers to access the database directly via Java from the client or middle-tier. Java developers will use the Java API to build Java applications that access data stored in any of Informix's database servers. Informix also provides JDBC support. " It was also stated that "The Java API and JDBC is scheduled to be available at the end of the year with INFORMIX-Universal Server." INFORMIX-Universal Server is on schedule. What about the Java API and JDBC? Anyone knows about it? Best regards
