Do you want to see a file as if it was a table, and hence select its contents as rows? If yes, then what kind of file are you interested in? delimited? fixed lenght? excel? jpg? your own proprietary format? Or is it that you want to see a filesystem as a table, file features (eg name, size, modification date) as columns, and act on file names that you select? XPS offers support for direct access to some file formats, and the feature is rather flexible. IDS offers the VTI (and VII) as a means to cater for both propositions above, but you will have to write your own access method (a blade with 17 specific functions) to cater for whatever you want to "pull" -- Ciao, Marco ______________________________________________________________________________ Marco Greco /UK /IBM Standard disclaimers apply!
