Wrapper for tbtape WANTED

I understand that there are some people out there that have written wrappers for the tbtape utility (especially the continuous logging mode). I'd like 2 things from this wrapper. First and most important, a method to capture the screen information that my operator sees. (I know how to use 'script', but it's not a great solution for my purposes.) A chat script would be a good option. Wheel reinvention, and all of that :-) This part is the most important. Second, a wrapper that allows the controlling terminal to be faked to tbtape. This has to be handled by standard Unix utilities (or PERL). Due to the installations, we can't use some of the pseudo-tty programs that are available. This part is optional. We'd also prefer shell or Perl scripts (no C programmers for support) :-(. Please mail any responses/programs.
