Ontape won't change logging -Reply
Posted in 1997
Hi Klaus,
I am running Dynamic Server 7.22UC1 on an HP 9000 HPUX 10.22 and
have had similar problems when trying to have a single command backup
and alter logging. The solution I arrived at is as follows: ontape -U mbs
-s, then manually respond with level 0 at the next prompt. Whenever I've
tried to incorporate everything in the command line I get a similar failure.
Splitting the command up this way does work, since it's the way I've
revived unbuffered logging on my databases after loads.
Hope this helps,
John

Hi
I am running Informix Dynamic Server 7.23 UC1 on a IBM RS/6000 with
AIS 4.1.4
I load a database named "mbs" without logging.
After this, I want to change the logging to unbuffered logging
with the command:
ontape -s -L 0 -U mbs
but it doesn't work - I get following message:
Archive failed - Invalid logging change to mbs
Program over.
Who can help me?
Klaus Arlt
