Interbase actually has some pretty cool stuff, like domains, which might
cause some problems when migrating to Informix (I'm speculating only).
Domains, for those that don't know, are an SQL92-ism (89-ism?) that let
you say things like:
DEPTNO is CHAR(3) and must be "HERE", "THERE" or "EVERYWHERE". Then when you
create tables you can:
CREATE TABLE employee(name CHAR(20),
department DEPTNO)
Interbase also lets you hook in your own custom routines into the engine
something like a procedural version of datablades.
Informix scales well, has excellent performance, and sophisticated data
replication capabilities. Informix Universal Server also presents a pretty
hot future with its OO integration.

The datapump that ships with many Borland products does a good job of this.
