INFORMIXTMP ?

Hi,
I just installed Informix IDS 7.30UC7 on SuSE Linux 6.2. Everything works fine,
but there is on thing that makes me nervous. When 'oninit' is started, the
process creates a dirtectory /INFORMIXTMP. Why? What is this directory used for?
The problem is, that I don't have very much space on /, so is there any Variable
(like INFORMIXDIR) I can set to put this directory somewhere else (eg
/opt/informix/tmp).
Bye

Hi Juergen,
Don't worry about INFORMIXTMP. The directory usually contains
few kb an information that Informix uses for its reasons as
for the shared memory network communication and stream communication.
However you can create a link to any place that you want, before
starting oninit ;-) and don't forget to copy all files from the
directory to new one.

Before you buy.
There is not too much put there. Basically it is used by the networking portions of
the clients and the engines to discover key information about what servers are
installed on the machine and how to get to them.
If you are really tight on space, then you could probably make /INFORMIXTMP into a
link to some other location.
