Upgrade from 7.30 to 9.X

I have gotten the impression that the switch for the 7.30 engine to the 9.X engine is not very complicated. Is this true? We currently have the 7.30 engine and have been toying around with the possibility of going to the 9.X engine because we would like to have the multimedia functionality that smart blobs and datablades would provide. Has anyone made this switch, and would you have any empirical wisdom that you would be willing to share? ==================================================================== Harold Luse Phone: (970) 491-4120 Veterinary Teaching Hospital Fax: (970) 491-4123 Colorado State University Pager: (970) 229-8173 Fort Collins, Colorado USA E-mail: hluse@vth.colostate.edu ====================================================================

It is essentially a codestream merge of 7.x and 9.x plus a few bits. I would hope that the upgrade from 7.30 to IDS.2000 is therefore quite straightforward. On the Informix website look out for the Informix Internet Foundation 2000 product info - this contains most info about IDS.2000 since it consists mainly of IDS.2000 and web datablade stuff. hth Pete Smith Logica Bristol UK > > I have gotten the impression that the switch for the 7.30 engine to the > 9.X engine is not very complicated. IDS.2000 (aka 9.20) will be out any day now (due today) and the upgrade of existing 7.xx disk structures is supposed to be built into that engine. IDS.2000 is the merger of the 7.30 code base with the 9.1x feature set and is now the Informix mainline database product (and the underlying server of the Foundation.2000 product which is IDS.2000 with some WEB related datablades included). Informix has promised that IDS.2000 is at least as fast as 7.31 with all 9.1x features and then some. Worth waiting a few days! Art S. Just got off the phone with Customer Service. They say that IDS.2000 is not available and may be some time yet. The good news is that OnWeb is orderable now. "Art S.
