The system is now running on a Pentium 150 server :with 48megs of RAM, running SCO Openserver 5 and Informix 4GL latest :release, with the latest release of the Standard Engine. :Anyhow, the problem is this - the users are complaining that their :application screens are now "jerky". For instance, when displaying an :informix form to the terminal, the form with build to 75% of the screen. :There will then be a short pause and then the rest of the form will be :displayed followed by their query data. The terminal emualtion is :perfect using TERMCAP (informix). What kind of terminals are you using? Regular terminals with a serial connection, through consentrators, terminal emulation on a PC using serial lines or TCP/IP over ethernet...? It might be a problem related to the terminal communication. We have seen this kind of problem some times using terminal emulators. There are many real bad once around, and very few good once. :I am not so sure that this is a problem, rather it is just the way the :screens build. It's a problem for shure. This is *not* the way things should work, and have never been this way for us neither with the old terminals (many years ago) nor with Windows terminal emulators on TCP/IP over Ethernet. We have had this same behaviour using OnLine when it was not properly set up and tuned on a machine. As soon as that was taken care of the problem dissapeared. I haven't seen it using Standard Engine though. :Anyone got any ideas. i.e. is this just the way things are or should I :be tweaking something to make screen building and scrolling more flowing :? :Any comments gratefully accepted. Cheers, Sean. This wasn't much help, but do make sure you get rid of the problem. Your users probably won't like you otherwise. Some may even believe it's a problem with Informix applications - something that could be bad for all of us in the long run.
