sqldetach ?

Does anyone know how this function (sqldetach) really works ? What does it do internaly ? does it forks any process ? Do I have to call it after a fork and before connecting to informix ? My program is something like this: switch (fork()) { -1: /* error */ exit(); case 0: /* son-process */ sqldetach(); "database xxx" ...(etc)...(various select statements)...(etc)... "close database" exit(); default: (processing continues...) } Sometimes I receive a 'Syntax Error' executing simple and correct select statements in the son-process after the sqldetach call. If I don't use fork and execute all the statements straight forward all works properly ! I have ONLINE 5.01 and am running on a IBM RISC 6000. Any help will be greatly appreciated. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Carlos Alberto Palma SMD - Informatica, SA Largo Movim. das Forcas Armadas, 4 Alfragide, 2700 Amadora Portugal,Europe,Earth,...(lost somewhere)...
