Versions of Informix csdk for windows
Posted in 2010
The poster asked why Informix CSDK downloads are labelled e.g. 3.50.TC4 while documentation says xC4, and what the T vs x means. Respondents explained the Informix version naming scheme MM.mm.xPP: the letter is the platform code — T = Windows, U = 32-bit Unix/Linux, F = 64-bit Unix/Linux/MacOS, H = HP-UX 32-on-64-bit hybrid — and 'x' is simply a generic placeholder used in docs and forum posts when the platform doesn't matter. C/D plus a number indicates patch level. An IBM support link was also given, and the questioner thanked them.

T = Windows U = 32-bit Unix F = 64-bit Unix H = 32/64-bit hybrid for HPUX. -- Cheers, Obnoxio The Clown http://obotheclown.blogspot.com I will now proceed to pleasure myself with this fish. -- This message has been scanned for viruses and dangerous content by OpenProtect(http://www.openprotect.com), and is believed to be clean.
TC4 = Windows 32bit UC4 = Unix 32bit FC4 = Unix 64bit 'x' is just a place-holder for U,T,F Bob ----- Original Message ----- From: "ROGER VILCA" <rvilca@luzdelsur.com.pe> To: ids@iiug.org Sent: Tuesday, April 20, 2010 1:30:19 PM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: Versions of Informix csdk for windows [19752] Hi everybody What is the difference between Informix CSDK TC4 and CSDK xC4 ? The "T" indicates that this version is for a MS Windows environment. The "x" is a place holder for "F", "H", or "U" on Unix platforms. OK, all Informix products use the same version naming scheme: MM.mm.xPP<WW><XX> Where: MM - Major version number mm - Minor version number x - Platform letter: T - Windows, U - Unix/Linux OS 32bit, F - Unix/Linux/MacOS 64bit, H - Unix 32bit to run on 64bit (HPUX on PA Risc only) PP - Patch level. Initial patches are Cn where 'n' is the patch number. When enough patches accumulate the patch level becomes a Dn release WW & XX - are platform specific patches that are not required to be ported to all platforms (Note IDS engine versions also stick in 'ED' or 'WE' after the patch level to indicate that the release is an Express Edition or Workgroup Edition with some features disabled and with some resource limitations. But that won't affect the CSDK versions.) Usually in the documentation, since releases for all of the platforms are the same version except for the Platform letter, the documentation, and also Forum postings, all refer the the platform letter as 'x' just to show that it doesn't matter what platform you are running. So, in your case you are running CSDK with a version string like: 3.50.TC4 on Windows which is same as the 3.50.FC4 on Linux/Unix/MacOS and is referred to in the documentation and here on the IDS forum as 3.50.xC4 Art Art S.
