No, it is not. With Informix 5, you need Informix-Net (on a server with SE) or Informix-Star (on a server with Online) for any network access. I don't know about the necessary products on the client side - I believe I-Net is still needed with ESQL/C 7.x and I4GL 6.x. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
