Tru 64 uses 8K pages. Informix uses 2k pages. (This might be configurable from version 9.5.) (This might be configurable from version 9.5.) hmm interesting. Informix use to have configurable page size till version 5.0. Why did they stop it? And .. why are they bringing it back now.

And .. why are they bringing it back now. 1) the configurable page size that we had was fixed within the instance. There were a lot of problems with its implementation. We added the support for long rows - where the row spanned multiple pages to remove its need. 2) so that we can support wider index keys. > >

Until some stage (I thought it was 6.00, but I am willing to believe it was 5.00), the ONCONFIG (or TBCONFIG) file contained a parameter which was the page size, but you could not alter it -- if you did, all hell broke loose one way or another. -- Jonathan Leffler #include <disclaimer.h> Email: jleffler@earthlink.net, jleffler@us.ibm.com Guardian of DBD::Informix v2003.04 -- http://dbi.perl.org/
